In summer, Zell Am See is just as busy as in winter, with visitors arriving from around the world to enjoy the lakeside setting, where watersports such as sailing and windsurfing, swimming and pleasure boat trips are available.

Walking on the Schmittenhoehe is made easy as the lifts are open in summer too, meaning you can ascend by one lift and make an easy walk to a mountain restaurant, then descend by another lift. For the more energetic, you can of course walk from the valley without using the lifts, and Mountain biking is also available in Zell Am See and in nearby Saalbach, as well as more leisurely cycle tours around the lake.

The area between the Kitzsteinhorn and Schmittenhöhe offers a range of leisure activities including golfing, bowling, horseback riding, Alpine sightseeing flights, white water rafting, mountain climbing, caving, parachuting, gliding, or paragliding.

However, Zell am See and Kaprun is not just about pleasures that involve a lot of action. For those who prefer a more relaxing stay there are a number of spas and wellness centres offering a range of treatments and therapies to suit all requirements.
